Can you guess how much calories you just consumed when you had your lunch today? What was there in your lunch, some salad, some pasta with gravy and chicken and one drink. How much it could be, can you guess it? Guess you can do, but not wild guess, it has to be educated guess. Once you read pages of issue you can have actula idea of calories you are consuming a day.

 

Calories burned at this evening!

I know, I know, you played soccer this evening. You are in a good mood, you burned lot of calories, so you can have some heavy dinner tonight. So you are going to eat two extra burittos tonight, which means you will consume extra 550 calories, but how many calories you burned during you 30 minutes soccer workout? Can you guess again, not wild guess you know, it has to be educated guess, If you can't, let me help you, it was 300-350 depending on how busy you were while playing. So you see you consume extra 550 calories, though you burned extra 350 calories on soccer. So this was not your day!

Calories we are consuming

Now let's get back to the nutrition facts label. I assume you checked many times nutrition facts label, and know calories of many regular items. There is no gadget with which you can calculate the calories you consumed throughout the day. But it is not rocket science. Though nobody likes to look at the lable everytime he eats something, but if you check the label of each food few days continuously then after may be 5/6 weeks it will be very easy to aprroximate the calories of each food. Once you grow the idea, you wouldn't need to look at the label. Though adding those calories to sum up is not easy first few days, very soon it would be easy too. So always your goal will be to consume less calories than those your body burns (check the calories burning page).
