If you do a job where you have to answer phone calls only, and most of the time you sit in fornt of a computer, don't be disappointed, you are still burning lot of calorie. If you are a heavy structure mid aged person, you are burning around 2500 calories. Now the question is how much you should eat! Now you have to fix your goal. Suppose you have decided that within a year you will lose 50 pounds.This is a reasonable goal. Don't go for losing 20 pounds a week, you can not continue with that, even if you lose cloase to that in a week.

How much we should eat!

There is a good probability that you like to eat, you don't like this statement? Then let's put it like your body always feels hungry! So you have to eat. And since you are burning a lot of calorie even just sitting in front of a computer, you need to cover these calories to remain fit. But how manycalories we should consume. It depends on your goal. If you think you want to lose 50 pounds of fat in a year, then you have to burn extra cories. To burn one pounds of fat you have to spend extra 3500 calories, yes it is that many! Now you can calculate. suppose you are burning 2500 calories a day. So eat foods worth of 2000 calories. So you are spending extra 500 calories a day. Which means you are burning 1/7 pounds of fat (500/3500=1/7) a day. So in a week you will lose one pound of fat ( 7 days X1/7 pounds a day=1 pound) in a week. In a year, which has 52 weeks, you will lose 52 pounds.

Now set your goal, if you think you can eat less, and work a little more and spend net 1000 calories ( a bit dificult to continue) a day, like you will burn 2800 calories and eat 1800 calories, then you can lose 52 pound in six months.

How much food you will consume, or how many calories you need depends on your goal and the rate at which you are burning.
